Are you missing out on some military discounts and perks when it comes to credit cards?

The military lifestyle definitely has its ups and downs so might as well enjoy all of the benefits that come with it! I, for one, never go anywhere without asking if they have a military discount. Because why not take advantage of this already challenging lifestyle!?

Now before I go into this topic and talk about credit cards and more, know that I am not a financial advisor and what I talk about in this blog is only from my experience. You know what is best for you and for your family and this might or might not be a good fit for you.

Did you know that American Express and Chase Bank waive the yearly fee of their credit card for active duty military members and their spouses? But even if you get it for free, you can still enjoy all of the perks of the credit card that they offer.

For example (and in my opinion if you have to pick just one, this should be the one), the American Express Platinum Card offers more than 35 benefits that come with the card, which again you get for free. Some of the benefits include free TSA PreCheck or Global Entry, Hotel Collections selection where they reimburse you some of your expenses after you spend 2 nights in their hotels, a walmart + membership, Paramount Plus, audible and much more! Since American Express usually charges a hefty $695 annual fee, this represents a huge savings. You can get it right here.

The Bonvoy Marriott card (also by Amex) will give you so many points for spending a certain amount of money after opening the account. Believe me, these points give you at least 4 or five nights for free at a Marriott Hotel. The Hilton Honors (also by Amex) works the same way. When we got our card, we were able to get 150,000 points and we went to Hilton Hotels for free many times.

Chase Bank also waives the annual fees for the military so you can easily get their most expensive card for free. That would be the Chase Sapphire Reserve, it has no annual fee for military service members and spouses, the $550 annual fee is completely waived down to $0! This one has some awesome benefits as well like $300 travel credit (I don’t know if you can tell yet but I absolutely love traveling!), TSA PreCheck, and so much more!

So if you are a part of the military family, make sure to add these cards to your back pocket so you can enjoy living life the way you should!
